What if confidence in Dutch starts with one small moment?
Jul 11, 2025“I should study more grammar.”
“I need to grow my vocabulary first.”
This is what I hear from so many people when they talk about learning Dutch.
But after working with internationals who’ve already followed courses, apps, or books, I’ve discovered something else:
👉 It’s usually not grammar or vocabulary that holds you back.
👉 It’s your mindset.
That’s why I created the Summer Confidence Challenge, a soft and supportive way to move from overthinking to actually speaking Dutch, one gentle step at a time.
A weekly rhythm, for real growth
If you’re already on my email list (and if not, you can sign up here), you’ll receive this summer a fresh challenge every Friday afternoon.
I also post this challenge on my social media (Instagram) on Friday at 9 pm.
Just in time to try it out over the weekend, or whenever it fits into your week.
It’s not a course. It’s not a push.
It’s a rhythm, to help you feel a little more at ease, one moment at a time.
Last week’s step: Noticing your thoughts
We started by becoming more aware of your inner voice.
The one that often shows up just as you’re about to speak:
• I sound weird.
• They’ll just switch to English.
• I’m not good enough yet.
These thoughts can feel real. But they’re just thoughts.
Noticing them without judgement, is the first step to shifting them.
This week: Reframe your inner voice
What if you replaced “I’ll mess it up” with something kinder, like:
"I’m learning, and that’s enough.”
This small change can make a big difference.
Speak to yourself the way you would to a close friend. Gently, patiently, and with kindness.
What’s next?
Next week, I’ll guide you through the next step, one that helps you feel more grounded and steady before you speak.
And if this rhythm speaks to you, if you’re feeling ready to stop holding back, then I have something special coming in September:
I’m opening new spots for my 1:1 Speak Dutch with Confidence training.
It’s designed for internationals who already have done their courses (B1 level)
but need support to finally use it, at work, in daily life, or just for themselves.
It’s real, personal, and fully focused on confidence.
Keep an eye on your inbox.
Until then…
Keep showing up.
Keep it light.
Be proud of every step, no matter how small.
You’re already doing more than you think.
Fijne zomer!
